generation surge camp: [july 21-26] this is a camp that i went to last year. it is done by atlanta city church. the camp is in cleveland, tennessee...yes that means that it is a 12 hour drive. on the way up we left on sunday after church and drove for 6 hours or so to a hotel in virginia some where for the night. i got to be a room leader so that was cool...i felt cool. so that night we played cards..a bunch of ppl got in the pool and played football. our group was around 80 ppl so just picture -->mostly all middleschoolers and some highschool some college takin over the hotel pool. the next morn we left around 10 to make our way to camp. we ended up gettin there faster then we thought-like around 4 oclock. we registered and then moved all our stuff into our cabins. this year we stayed in this awesome lodge that was huge. it is called 'sunset' , it was far away from everything but that was aight cuz it was good to get out and walk. aight so that night was the first service. the speaker for the week was a guy named joseph jennings. he is this huge black guy. he was awesome. some of the things he preached on was salvation, families, and forgiveness. he preached at night and billy huffman, the youth pastor of atlanta city church, preached in the mornings. billy preached on prayer and submission. this week had a big impact on my life. i bought a book there called 'undercover' which is about submission and coming under your authority. billy preached on this too which is something i have problem w/ but God is dealing w/ me in that area. but anyways...all the ppl at camp which was around 300 were split into teams [i was on yellow team] and thruout the whole week you have to try and make as much fake money as you can and who ever does wins and gets to sign a banner. the first day my team did high and low ropes. this is real fun b/c in high ropes there is a 60 foot freefall swing and a zipcord...on that zip cord i went on it backwards and upside down...as soon as you jump off you do a flip backwards and hang upsidedown w/ your hands down in the position of a handstand but in midair...it rocks...also there is a rock climbing wall which all i got out of that was a huge bruise on my leg. the next day we did paintball which was really fun but the gross part was you had to put on a wet sweatin body suit and a sweaty helmet...i lucked out b/c mine both were not that bad. but i did good i shot alot of ppl and only got hit like 3 times out of 3 games. i did get a war wound tho..i have a welt on the back of my arm from a paintball. next we did our water event where someone had to swim across the lake on a boogy board get a honey due mellon ,swim back and while he was doin that the rest of our group had to go in and out of the water filling out mouth w/ lake water to fill up this bucket..then you have to do cheers for your team and the other to make money. our team was ahead the whole time until our last person swam really slow and their third person caught up to us and ended up winning...so basically as nate says 'that was the biggest waste of energy'. thursday- we got up very early and went white water rafting!! that was awesome..there was mostly all class 2 and 3 but there were a few class 4 rapids...when we got back we ate lunch and then slept from 12-4..that was great. friday we left after the awards ceremony. my team ended up gettin 5th place which rocks cuz we thought we were gonna get last. it was sad leavin everyone again...but it was time for our 12 hour journey back to the burg. and i got sick...but im finally home and still sick.

starry night and star day: well i got there and sat there for a long time till we checked in...we got to stay in grc apartment dorms which were sweet but i wanted to stay in the suites b/c that is where im gonna be livin next year but hey its all good...so me and kim were roomates and my friends renee and erika were our suite mates for the night. k..now off we go- we went on a tour of the campus [this being my third tour] we stayed back and didnt pay attention at all...the whole time i was observing everyone and how they act and stuff cuz i like to watch ppl...everyone looked like how i expected them to look i guess...we went to the seigal center and there we played games like we were in groups and we had to make a monster..then we played like paper rock scissors in groups but we could either be dwarf wizard or giant...dwarf beats wizard, giant beats dwarf, and wizard beats giant...our group was dwarf everytime b/c dwarfs are cool...and yup we lost everytime..ha. k next we went to hibbs dining and had dinner. there was seafood for dinner which was actually really good...i ate lots of calamari and popcorn shrimp...then i had a salad w/ lots of tomatoes... next we went to the commons and had a meeting bout stuff and then we did a 'star search' where we had to run around the commons building and find all these certain rooms and answer questions using books and resources...our group won! we got a button pin that says 'I LOVE VCU' and a sticker sayin the same and a frisbee from hardees! yay...neeext we went back to grc dorms and just hung out...we had question and answer session then we had pizza and me and shannon just sat and talked till 12 then we went up to the 4th floor where are dorms were and sat outside and talked until 530 in the morn...and we had to get up at 630...but it was worth it. shannon rocks and i was glad we got to talk cuz we never have got to talk except on the computer before. so we talked bout all kinds of stuff and it was great...the grc gaurds walked by us like 4 times and we talked to this random guy w/ is in the art department...he was tellin me bout how its really hard but fun...we'll see i guess... but anyways, im excited bout hangin out w/ shannon next year. sooo at 530 i went back in my room , took a shower, and then went to sleep for an hour till 630. then we had to pack everything up and be checked out by 7...if you didnt you would have had to pay 50 bones...so all of us were in the grc lobby barely awake and then had to walk all the way to the commons..throw all our stuff in a room and then go to another meeting where we met the head guy of the art department....[i definately fell asleep in that meeting]. after that i had free time to do anything b/c i got opted out of all the placement tests since i am in honors and got over a 3.5 gpa in highschool. so me and kim hung out...we went to GOVERNORS SCHOOL! yay...but we didnt get alumni pins....and none of out teachers were there but we did get to meet the new art teachers and we did get to 'swat cat roll' on the green. then we left and went to cary town! we went to bygones and all the vintage stores....i got a ring that says something in hebrew on it..and some luggage labels from italy to put on titanic [my suitcase]. now it was time to go back to vcu and schedule our classes...this took a while but i finally got my scedule and since im in honors i found out that i have all these special privalages..so that rocks and next semester if i keep a 3.5 gpa then i will get to scedule my classes before everyone even the seniors. then thats it....time to leave...i left w/ a quarter tank of gass and 1 dollar to make my way back to the burg

summer summer summer...my phone is off nobody can wake me up..and no you cant trick me by calling my cell phone to wake me up b/c that can charge when it is off tooooo. late nights turn to sleepin in late durin the day. i love havin to not work and do nothing so that whenever somethin comes up i can usually do it. the thing is...at times like these when im just on the comp doin absolutely zero im so bored i just want to eat. in my head right now the food im thinkin of is cheese and the drink im thinkin of is a caramel frapachino....yum. i dont think they would go well together tho. so everymorning and maybe at night too i want to write down all bout my day and my thoughts. "you just gotta be real" "its freedom time" as lauryn hill would say. she rocks..i really look up to her as a person. how she has given up herself and her music to God. how she sacrificed her fame to spread the gospel thru her music. that is really not something i thought she would do but the fact that she did makes me admire her even more. thats how we all gotta be "knowing my condition is the reason i must change". "ill be the first person to say that 'im a mess' everyday i ask God to help me be less of a mess"

ok im back from the call...well i got back on sunday. it was amazing..it was a whole day of praying and worshiping. we got there around 9 am and it ended at 6 pm. to get there we took the subway. and on our way to catch this certain one we had to go down this back alley and we found this guy and he helped us find it. his name was charles...he went w/ us all the way thru 25 subway stops and one train switch and stayed w/ us the whole day at the call for 9 hours. we found out that he got saved at a reinhard bonnke crusade in nigiria which is he where is from and he is a christian. so that was awesome. he was our bodygaurd on the subways for us 5 girls. but anyways we got to the call and we met up w/ more ppl from our church there. in total there was about 20 of us prolly maybe less. but the day was awesome. it was in flushing meadows park right next to shea stadium. ((if you remember in men in black where the alien runs to the park and takes one of the alien ship lookin things on the pole and the huge globe rolls away..)) well thats where it was. thousands of ppl were there just as a day to give to God and to prayer for different things and our nation. there were alot of awesome speakers there (like paul kain, pat robertson from 700 club, mike bickle, dr brown, cindy jacobs, dutch sheets, lou engle, che ahn) and then worship teams (jason upton, matt redman, international house of prayer in kansas city, gabe ahn) etc. it was really fun dancin around in the dirt and i definately got real dirty by the end of the day. the call dc we didnt get to but this year we got to go up to the front rows and be right up by the stage which was awesome. i took lots of pictures too. but thats it basically that i can explain in words
