spain in a few words. the rest will remain the wonderful memories in my head
9 days with my luli
and elmer angel
we rode donkeys of a spanish family, that spoke no english, in sacromonte
an old lady gave us free tomatos, figs and eggs from her garden and hens
we met and hung out with the best grafiti artist in granada
listening and clapped along with flamanco musicians in plazas and cave bars
went paragliding in the sierra nevada mountains
i loved my hostel, sitting on the terrace
and sitting in my room window every morning and writing
other things we did were- bought cookies from nuns, walked the cuesta dellos chinos, saw the alhambra, went to the archeological museum, went in the old arabic baths, ate typical spanish food- paiea, churros and drank sangria with free tapas, smoked a hookah and drank tea, met ppl from all over the world including- austrailia, austria, poland, belgium, morroco, canada, etc., went shopping, saw amazing art that i have studied in the 3 famous museums of madrid and rode the subway everywhere. and so much more. nothing can really sum it all up. but theres a sneek
so on my way to the internet cafe, me and laney got rushed by a group of about 50 shouting soaking wet Spanish boys -and they picked us up over their heads and sang Spanish chants to us, put us down and marched away (in my mind they jumped in the fountain across the way). pretty much one of the best things that's ever happened to me. ha. and way more stories like that to tell of Gods wonderful spontaneity- when i get back on sunday night.
the ten thousand villiages logo represents visually the organization's mission. the continuous line forming the buildings reminds us we are all linked as we live on this earth. the logo's cultural architecture represents homes of people with whom we work in many cultures and places. lit windows and doors speak of human beings sheltered in there- people much like ourselves in many ways. the warm red color and hand-crafted look of the logo represent the materials and methods used to make the items marketed by ten thousand villages.
